Lt. Governor, Sh. Anil Baijal chairs Law & Order meeting, reviews action taken report on decisions taken since January 2017.

Sh. Anil Baijal, Lt. Governor, Delhi chaired Law & Order meeting today at Raj Niwas and reviewed the actions taken on the decisions reached so far. Safety of women, Community Policing and use of technology in Delhi Police were the focus areas. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, GNCTD, Pr. Secretary (Home), GNCTD, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Commissioner (Transport), GNCTD, Spl. CPs and Jt. CPs of Delhi Police.
Women Safety
Hon’ble Lt. Governor was apprised about the various initiatives taken by Delhi Police to ensure safety of women in Delhi such as Joint Group Patrolling/Integrated checking being organized by Local Police, Traffic police and PCR. In 2017, 29,732 joint integrated checkings were conducted. Hon'ble LG emphasised that the data of dark spots from districts needs to be sent promptly to GNCTD, wide publicity needs to be given through news papers, at cinema halls and at places frequented by public through various Apps.
Citizen centric initiatives of Delhi Police including self-defence courses for girls/women were also reviewed. In 2017, 1,79,079 women/girl have been trained.
Hon’ble Lt. Governor also stressed upon the need for integrating self defence training programmes in school curriculum and directed the Chief Secretary, Delhi to coordinate with the authorities concerned for its implementation. Hon’ble Lt. Governor stressed for effective functioning and monitoring of CCTVs.
Community Policing
Hon’ble Lt. Governor was also informed about the measures adopted by Delhi Police in the field of Community Policing like Police YUVA, Mitra, Pehchan, Prahri etc.
He appreciated efforts undertaken by Delhi Police under ‘YUVA’ scheme and desired to expand it further. He also stressed upon one app for entire Delhi Police to offer all services at one platform to make it citizen centric.
Dissemination of information
Lt. Governor emphasized that the initiatives taken by Delhi Police, particularly its apps and helpline nos. should be made more interactive and disseminated extensively for awareness and benefit of the public. He noted that dissemination of information and community outreach is need of the hour and should be suitably promoted.
Use of Technology in Delhi Police
Hon’ble Lt. Governor was informed about the progress made on use of technologies like NERS 112, CTO, e-saathi etc. Hon’ble Lt. Governor instructed that use of technology may be maximized to ensure the smooth functioning of CCTVs as well as analysis of data related to crime.
Finally, Lt. Governor appreciated the initiatives taken by Delhi Police to reward its personnel as well as community for their exemplary work.
