. Proud parents and dear graduating students,

A convocation is much more than the formal awarding of degrees. It marks the completion of one important phase of  life  and  the  beginning  of  another,  in  which  theknowledge acquired in classrooms must find expression in the wider world. Today, you leave this institution with a qualification, but also with the responsibility to decide how you will use what you have learnt.

I extend my congratulations to each one of you. Your degree represents years of effort, discipline and perseverance. I also recognise the parents and families who have made sacrifices, the teachers who have guided you, and the friends who have supported you throughout this journey. This occasion belongs to them as much as it belongs to you.

IIIT-Delhi has provided you with an environment to develop your abilities, engage with new ideas and strengthen your understanding of technology. Its growing contribution to research and innovation is a matter ofpride. The real measure of an institution, however, is also reflected in the people it sends into the world and the contribution they make thereafter.

You graduate at a consequential moment. Artificial intelligence, advanced computing and digital technologies are transforming economies and changing almost every aspect of human life. These developments offer immense opportunities, while placing greater responsibility on those who design and develop them. Technological progress must be accompanied by attention to privacy, inclusion, accessibility and the wider consequences of innovation.

Our honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji has said, “The trinity of Talent, Temperament and Technology will transform India’s future.” You represent an important part of this vision. India needs people who can developnew technologies, think independently and apply their knowledge to challenges that matter. Your technical abilities, combined with sound judgement and a spirit of innovation, can make a meaningful contribution to this national endeavour.

As you move forward, remain curious and continue learning. Do not allow your degree to become the boundary of your education. Technologies will evolve, professions will change and new fields will emerge. The ability to learn, unlearn and adapt will be among your greatest strengths. Be willing to explore unfamiliar ideas, work across disciplines and approach difficult problems with confidence.

Equally important is the need to uphold integrity. The decisions made by engineers, researchers and technologyprofessionals can affect millions of lives. Professional success must therefore be accompanied by ethical judgement and a sense of responsibility. The true value of innovation lies not only in what it makes possible, but also in how it improves people’s lives.

Do not measure success only through the position you hold, the organisation you join or the recognition you receive. Consider also the problems you help solve, the opportunities you create and the positive difference your work makes. Ambition acquires greater meaning when it is connected with a larger purpose.

India’s aspiration to become a developed nation by 2047 will depend on scientific advancement, strong institutions and capable, responsible citizens. Your generation will play a significant role in shaping that future. Whether youpursue research, entrepreneurship, industry or public service, approach your work with confidence, commitment and a sense of purpose.

As you leave this campus, carry forward the friendships, experiences and values that have shaped you. Stay connected with one another and with your alma mater, and remain open to the opportunities that lie ahead.

I once again congratulate all the graduating students and wish you success in your journeys ahead. May your achievements bring pride to your families, your institution and the nation.

Thank You.

Jai Hind.
