  1. I am happy to be present amongst you on the occasion of 08th Convocation of the Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences (ILBS). It is indeed a matter of pride that established in January 2012, the Institute has acquired a place of prominence amongst the top ranking Institutions of the country in a short span of 12 years.
  2. ILBS is an earnest endeavor of Delhi Government to provide a comprehensive set up for state-of-the-art patient care services at the most affordable costs, and also undertake advance and progressive research in the field of Liver and Biliary Diseases. It is indeed a matter of great satisfaction that with a dedicated team of Doctors and Medical Professionals, ILBS has established itself as a Centre of excellence in the field of Liver and Biliary diseases and evolved as a super specialty centre of international repute.
  3. The Institute provides top class medical care for patients with diseases of the Liver, Gall Bladder, Pancreas and associated organs, such as Kidney and Urinary system, not only to the people of India, but also to those coming from abroad.  I am sure that ILBS will attain greater heights and become a role model in best clinical protocols, teaching, training and operational system, as indeed research.  Congratulations to Team ILBS.
  4. On the Academic front, I have come to know that ILBS has introduced first of its kind liver centric teaching programs, post-doctoral Courses in Hepatology and Liver Surgery, and liver transplant anesthesia. I am happy to know that 52 students are doing PhD, in liver diseases. In addition, the Post-doctoral Training Programs (PDCC) for the aspiring and eligible medical and research Scholars are much sought after.
  5. The role played by ILBS in spearheading the cause of awareness generation about liver diseases and their prevention has been exemplary. I extend my compliments to the faculty, the mentors and team ILBS, for making people realize the importance of ‘Liver’ as the core organ for most of the metabolic derangements of the body.
  6. Efforts by ILBS, made the voice of hepatitis patients and the relevance of liver health, heard in the Indian Parliament. I would record my gratitude and compliments to our visionary, Speaker, Shri Om Birla Ji, for the same.  
  7.  I would like to congratulate the young and bright students who will be conferred with degrees in the Convocation today. I see exhilaration and a sense of achievement in them, something they truly deserve after years of hard labor. I also see pride and a sense of fulfillment on the faces of their teachers, mentors and parents.
  8.  Dear students,
    As you move ahead in life, take up careers and shape your future, my advise to you will be to get guided by the core human dictum of compassion. No matter where you go from here, use your knowledge and technical expertise for the welfare of the common man. Keep the spirit of ILBS and the capacity to feel the pain of a fellow human being, alive.  I wish each one of you good luck and success in all your future endeavors.

  9. I compliment Dr. Sarin and his team for their dedication to make the coveted vision of ILBS into a glowing reality. I wish the Institute every success in times to come and ensure the support of the Govt. of Delhi for the future vision of ILBS, that includes its set goal of excellence and self-sustenance.
