02.  ILBS is an institution, which was set up with state-of-art facilities, for comprehensive patient care, at affordable costs and to undertake advance and progressive research in the field of Liver and Biliary Diseases. It is indeed a matter of pride that within a span of just 13 years, ILBS has accomplished unparalleled milestones, and has established itself as a Centre of Excellence in the field of Liver and Biliary diseases, not only in India but globally. 03.  I am aware that ILBS has done commendable work to educate the country on the menace of fatty liver and hepatitis. Their concepts gel well with the overall wellness and fitness programs being undertaken in the country. I want to compliment the Institute for making people realize the importance of ‘Liver’ as the core organ responsible for most of the metabolic derangements of the body.

04.  On the Academic front, I have also come to know that ILBS has introduced, first of its kind liver centric teaching programs, post-doctoral Courses in Hepatology, Liver Surgery, and Liver Transplant Anaesthesia. I am happy that 56 students are pursuing these courses. It is also a matter of satisfaction to know that currently 40 students are pursuing PhD, in liver diseases. My Congratulations to each of these highly talented students, who are graduating today.

05.  I take this opportunity to exhort ILBS to take lead in the field of organ donation as well. To my mind, there is a huge responsibility on us to save lives through this initiative. I am sure that the Honorable President would also bless this initiative.

06.  Today, on your convocation ceremony, I see exhilaration and a sense of achievement in the eyes of graduating students.  Satisfaction, that they truly deserve after years of hard work and dedication. I also see pride and a sense of fulfilment on the faces of their mentors and parents.  They deserve this contentment on this special occasion.

Hon’ble President, Ladies & Gentlemen,

07. India today stands at the cusp of becoming a global economic power. Apart from other things, Science, Technology and advancements in the field of medicine are recognized, now as vehicles that will take India to the front rank of the nations.  We recently saw how we took charge during the global COVID crisis and helped several countries. While there are several challenges ahead, there are also enormous opportunities waiting for us. As per the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, the year 2023 marks the advent of “Amrit kaal” for our great nation.  We aim at becoming “Viksit Bharat by 2047”.

08.  Every youth like you is expected to contribute to this mission. What can be a better than youth graduating in the specialized disciplines of the health sector to make the dream of Viksit Bharat, become true, even before 2047.

09.  Dear students, I would also like to advise you that no matter where you go from here, use your knowledge and technical expertise for the welfare of the common man.
