Convocation is a truly a proud moment in student’s life since it honours their accomplishments before they confront the rigours of life.  I believe it is a proud moment for today’s graduates to finish their education from an institution of repute like IGDTUW. Your alma-mater has been striving to provide quality education since 2013. I am sure that as you step into the world outside, you would shine as young technocrats and managers with ethical and moral values, with leadership qualities, research culture, and innovative skills.
  3. Dear Friends, Ladies & Gentlemen,
I would like to mention here about our nation’s future vision of Rainbow of India envisaged by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narender Modi ji. To achieve the goal of comprehensive national development, seven major focal areas are envisioned under the Rainbow of India concept. India's culture, agriculture, women, natural resources, youth power, democracy, and knowledge are among these seven rainbow subjects.
  4. Today, standing here in this renowned Technical University for Women, I would like to exhort the IGDTUW to work in the direction of enabling this future vision by encouraging women empowerment and harnessing the power of youth. I am sure IGDTUW is striving for excellence in professional education and ensuring active participation of young women in various fields of knowledge
  5. I am informed that IGDTUW is contributing to attain nation’s vision of Brand India, which focuses on 5 T’s i.e.Talent, Trade, Tradition, Tourism and Technology. During my last visit to the University for celebrations of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, it was pleasant to learn that young female Talents of IGDTUW made a mark in the field of Technical & Professional educationand secured notable positions in renowned National & International Organizations.
  6. I have been told that IGDTUW has established Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence with the support of Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, Centre of Excellence in Advanced Mechatronics System, Centre of Excellence in Innovation and Centre of Excellence for Science of Happiness for academic and comprehensivedevelopment of students. By providing young women with higher learning and overall growth, IGDTUW is performing one of the most important tasks for empowerment of women and development of society.

It is a matter of great satisfaction that IGDTUW secured 54th position and 13th position in the overall “World’s Universities with Real Impact”, and “Entrepreneurial Spirit of WURI ranking” respectively. The prestigious University of the Year Award by FICCI and “University Excellence Award”validate the Institute’s Academic Excellence and demonstrate that the university has been doing well in all spheres. For this accomplishment, I would like to congratulate visionary Vice Chancellor and entire fraternity of IGDTUW.
  8. Friends,
For any institution and its scholars to realize their true potential and fulfill their responsibility towards the larger ecosystem of innovation and inventions, it is critical that it focuses on basic and fundamental research. This applies especially to institutions imparting technical education. To my mind, such institutions have a larger responsibility than just producing graduates with technical degrees who go on to specialize in the fields of corporate management or qualify for Civil Services. I am happy to note that, during the last couple of years IGDTUW has focused on building research facilities augmented by funding from various National and International funding agencies.I am happy to know that IGDTUW has received the prestigious CURIE Grant of around Rs.3.63 Crorefrom the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
  9. It is indeed heartening that many students of the University have won awards & accolades for their works on relevant social issues and proving their mettle in competitions of highest standards. I am happy to know that IGDTUW provides progressive and comprehensive platform to their budding student entrepreneurs through their Incubation Centre-Anveshan. By providing guidance and mentoring to budding entrepreneurs, boosting their confidence and helping them to take their business ideas to market in minimum possible time frame, IGDTUW is indeed contributing to the National initiative of “Make in India”.
  10. Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is not possible for any University to achieve academic vibrance without inculcating moral values and social commitment. The process of creating such conditions is suitably seen in IGDTUW where every member of the university community is motivated to prioritize collective interests and progressively work towards creating efficient systems.
  11. In this regard, I would like to see IGDTUW playing a very active role to address problem pertaining to waste disposal, pollution mitigation, genderequity and women safety to name a few.
  12. Dear Students,
Graduation ceremony is a very important day in the life of a student – it is a life altering moment. You will be bestowed with lots of advice and well wishes today. On this joyous day, I have a couple of thoughts to share with you – the first advice that I would like to give to all of you young students is, to spend your time working on whatever you are passionate about in life. If your degree was focused upon one particular area, don’t let that stop you from moving in another direction. There is a huge world out there, full of opportunities waiting for you. You just have to grab one-that interests you. Every job, every profession, my dear students, has its own challenges, risks and rewards.
  13. You have an exciting life ahead of you. You can achieve and contribute a lot by working hard, leading your life with positivity, innovating, keeping a focus on generating value and higher purposes. My second advice pertains to the exciting journey, that you start today.Do not forget to give back to the society, and to your alma-mater. Stand up for moral and ethical values with rectitude.
  14. At the end, once again I would like to congratulate the outstanding achievers and wish you all the best in your career and lives ahead.

God bless you all!

Jai Hind !
