We all should prioritise bringing back peace and tranquillity to restore normalcy: LG

Hon’ble LG directs Delhi Police to continue deployment and take effective measures to counter rumour mongers.

Hon’ble LG asked Police to work closely with Aman Committees to build bridges between communities.

Delhi Police, East Delhi Municipal Corporation and all other agencies to work together, restore damaged infrastructure and improve civic amenities to instil confidence in the residents.

Hon’ble LG today also reviewed law and order situation in North East Delhi with Additional CS (Home), Commissioner of Police, Delhi in the morning before the visit.

          Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Delhi Sh. Anil Baijal today visited Shiv Vihar, Karawal Nagar, Brijpuri, Chand Bagh and other areas of North East Delhi along with Commissioner of Police, Sh. S.N. Shrivastava, Jt. Commissioner of Police (Law & Order), Senior Officers of Delhi Fire Service, EDMC, Health Department, District Magistrates and other officers to review efforts being taken by various agencies to restore normalcy.

During the visit Hon’ble LG interacted with locals from the area and observed that the situation is gradually improving day by day. He further stated that bringing back peace and tranquillity in the area is our topmost priority. He urged people not to lend ears to rumours and avoid circulating unconfirmed messages.

Hon’ble LG directed Delhi Police to continue their Flag March in the area and take effective measures to counter rumour mongers.  Delhi Police should keep strong vigil on social media and ensure timely and effective action against rumour mongers. Any attempt to spread false and malicious news should be nipped in the bud itself.

To build confidence amongst people of affected areas, Hon’ble LG met locals and asked police to actively engage with Aman committees to restore normalcy in the area.

Hon’ble LG today also held a review meeting in the morning with Additional CS (Home), Commissioner of Police, Delhi regarding the law and order situation in North East Delhi. Hon’ble LG was informed that 05 cases have been registered against rumour mongers. Hon’ble LG directed police to continue their presence in the area, carry on Flag Marches and instill confidence amongst people. He also urged public not to be swayed by unconfirmed news. Any news, images or videos which spread hatred between communities should be reported to police on helpline nos. (100, 112, 011-22829334, 011-22829335) or official twitter handle @DelhiPolice. Police has been instructed to take strict action against those spreading false news.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor directed East Delhi Municipal Corporation to take up extensive cleanliness drive of the area on war footing.  He also asked EDMC to repair damaged civic structures.
