Lt. Governor, Delhi, Sh. Anil Baijal reviewed progress of Swatchchta initiatives of the three Municipal Corporations in the regular fortnightly meeting today. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, GNCTD, Pr. Secretary (UD), GNCTD, Pr. Commissioner, DDA, Commissioner, South MCD, Commissioner, East MDC. CEO, DUSIB among other senior officials.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor was apprised about the measures taken regarding ODF, Disposal and Management of Silt, Public Toilets, general cleanliness, sanitation, redevelopment of markets, beautification under flyovers and similar important issues of MCDs in Delhi.

It was informed to Lt. Governor that all municipal corporations have notified themselves as Open Defecation free. Hon’ble LG desired that all public toilets in all Municipal Corporations should be completed and ready for public use.

Hon'ble Lt. Governor stressed that proper lighting arrangement should be ensured in and around all toilets complexes and sewerage water connection to toilets should be ensured. He also advised the MCD Commissioners to develop a common Mobile App to monitor any deficiencies in Swatchchta initiatives.

For mechanical sweeping of roads and solid waste management, the Lt. Governor directed that all works relating to it should be completed within 08 months for which purpose, they should come up with milestones and prepare a bar charts also. Lt. Governor also desired that all roads owning agency should display the name of concerned agency maintaining the respective stretches of roads.

Lt. Governor was informed that the South DMC has redeveloped 45 markets, while East DMC and North DMC are also in the process of developing markets in their areas.

Lt. Governor reiterated that senior officers should oversee the maintenance of municipal assets such as parks, flyovers, open gyms etc. Further, they should undertake regular field visits.

Lastly, Lt Governor advised the corporations to work together with communities for a clean and green Delhi.
