Lt. Governor, Delhi, Sh. Anil Baijal reviewed progress of sanitation and beautification works of the three Municipal Corporations in the regular fortnightly meeting today. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, GNCTD, Pr. Secretary (UD), GNCTD, Pr. Commissioner, DDA, CEO, DUSIB and the three Commissioners of the MCDs.

The three Commissioners of respective DMCs apprised Hon’ble Lt. Governor about measures taken regarding cleanliness, sanitation, redevelopment of markets and other important issues of MCDs in Delhi.  

As regards use of toilets in Restaurants (including petrol pumps), it was informed that all toilet facilities have been made available free of charge for women and children. Hon’ble Lt. Governor was informed about the steps taken for proper lighting in and around the toilets complexes.

The 3 Municipal Commissioners assured Hon’ble LG that efforts are being made to ensure that all toilets complexes have proper lights. It was desired that weekly progress report will be sent to the Pr. Secretary UD in this respect.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor was also informed about the status of redevelopment of markets. EDMC informed about steps being taken for re-development of 04 markets, SDMC informed that work in 27 big / medium markets have been completed and work in 21 LSCs /small market is in progress.

It was informed to Lt. Governor that EDMC will be completing beautification under 02 flyovers by Mid January 2018.

Progress about the encroachment removal on 29 identified stretches was also reviewed. Hon’ble Lt. Governor emphasized that the places which are made encroachment-free should not be allowed to be re-encroached.

Hon’ble LG desired that MCDs should continue to take steps that focus on cleanliness and sanitation of the areas and also ensure that community is also involved in maintenance of assets.
