Hon’ble LG directs CP, Delhi to explore implementation of “Annual Health Check up Scheme” in respect of Delhi Police personnel as well as it will improve the efficiency and productivity of force.
Ensure all basic amenities in Police Stations for staff and public: LG
Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Delhi Sh. Anil Baijal today reviewed the “Delhi Police Housing, Amenities in Thanas /Field Offices and Status of Police Station Buildings” in Law & Order meeting at Raj Niwas. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, Delhi, Addl. Chief Secretary (Home), GNCTD, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Spl. CPs and Jt. CPs of Delhi Police.
Delhi Police made a detailed presentation in this regard.
At the outset, Hon’ble LG was informed about the accommodation of constabulary and their satisfaction levels including future planning regarding housing. Hon’ble LG was also apprised that Delhi Police is pursuing for revival of Delhi Police Housing Corporation (DPHC) for minor civil works of Delhi Police. Currently, the satisfaction level of housing in Delhi Police is 18.83% (i.e. % of housing available to sanctioned strength). It was informed that 701 quarters are under construction, 491 are being sourced from DDA and proposal of 4865 staff quarters at Dheerpur is being followed up. It was informed that all future projects of Delhi Police will have 30% components of Housing.
Hon’ble Lt. Governor directed Delhi Police to expedite its efforts to augment housing satisfaction level for its staff and monitoring of projects of housing and Thana Buildings every month. Hon’ble LG instructed Delhi Police to coordinate with land owning agencies for allotment of land in respect of constructions of flats.
Hon’ble LG stressed that all basic amenities should be provided in Police Stations viz dormitories/barracks, recreation room, bathrooms, toilets and mess etc. and special provisions should be made for women staff for changing room, separate bathrooms & toilets. He also urged that senior officers should inspect Thanas periodically for checking the status of these facilities and to ensure their good condition.
It was further informed to Hon’ble LG that at present there are 209 police stations in Delhi. Hon’ble Lt. Governor directed Commissioner of Police, Delhi to review the status of on-going police stations projects and allotment of land for future projects so that the remaining work would be completed in a time-bound manner and pursue with O/o CS, Delhi and VC, DDA.
Since, Policing has an extremely demanding work environment filled with danger, ambiguities and conflicts, interventions are required to help officers deal with this difficult and stressful occupation. Therefore, Lt. Governor advised Commissioner of Police, Delhi to explore implementation of mandatory “Annual Health Check up Scheme” in respect of Delhi Police personnel as well apart from other ongoing measures to manage stress levels and health issues related to it and improve productivity of force.
