Joint drives by Traffic Police, MCDs and Transport Department to be launched from 1st February, 2018.
Traffic police to also ensure strict enforcement of lane discipline by four wheeled and above goods vehicles and buses in the designated bus lanes.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor Delhi, Sh. Anil Baijal chaired a meeting at Raj Niwas to review the progress of removal of encroachment on 29 Corridors as identified by the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi. The meeting was attended by Sh. Satyendar Jain, Hon’ble Minister (UD), GNCTD, Spl. CP (Traffic), Delhi Police, Pr. Secretary (UD), GNCTD, Chairman, NDMC, Commissioner, East MCD, Commissioner, North MCD.

Spl. CP (Traffic), Delhi Police made a presentation in this regard and apprised Hon’ble Lt. Governor about the following action plan for removal of encroachment & unauthorized parking on 29 Corridors:

1) DCsP Traffic (Ranges)/Convenor of the Task Force Teams to convene meetings between 20th January – 25thJanuary, 2018 with respective DC, MCD Zone, DCP/Addl. DCP /Distt. Police and Exe. Engineer, PWD to plan & chalk out a joint fortnightly schedule.

2) Implementation of joint drives w.e.f. 1st February, 2018. Initially, the joint drives would be undertaken twice a week in each MCD zone.

3) A minimum of 3-5 kilometers of a road stretch of the 29 corridors to be covered in the joint drive.

4) ACP/Traffic District, AC, MCD Zone, ACP Sub Division/Distt. Police and Exe. Engineer, PWD to be the nodal officers in organizing the joint drives.

5) A joint action taken report shall be prepared & countersigned jointly by all concerned officers for a record.

6) Traffic police officers shall also ensure strict enforcement action for lane discipline by four wheeled and above goods vehicles and buses in the designated bus lanes on 29 corridors

Hon’ble Lt. Governor directed Spl. CP (Traffic), Delhi Police to publicize its twitter handle and whatsapp number for reporting traffic violations. The concerned municipal corporations were directed to penalize the unauthorized parked vehicles as per their municipal laws i.e. as per the weight of the vehicle.

Finally, Hon’ble Lt. Governor stated that the Commissioners of 03 Corporations and the senior officers of Delhi Traffic Police should jointly and regularly monitor the action taken and ensure that comprehensive encroachment removal action is taken & re-encroachment is prevented.
