Lt. Governor, Delhi Sh. Anil Baijal chairs law and order meeting, reviews various technology based projects for Prevention, Detection & Investigation of Crimes.
Various Artificial Intelligence (AI) based project such as E-Saathi Project, Body Worn Cameras, AI Powered CCTV Project, Geo-Fencing Project, C-MAPS, ANPR Project, Facial Recognition and Advanced Forensics were reviewed.
Timelines for various projects of Delhi Police should be fixed: LG

Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Delhi Sh. Anil Baijal in the meeting of Delhi Police today reviewed various technology based projects for Prevention, Detection & Investigation of Crimes at Raj Niwas . The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary (Home), GNCTD, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, GNCTD, Special Commissioner (Transport), GNCTD, Spl. CPs and Jt. CPs and officers of Raj Niwas.

The Lt. Governor, at first, was apprised of the ‘action taken on the decisions taken in the previous meetings on ‘ Use of Technology in Policing’. Regarding Tie-ups with knowledge partners, Hon’ble Lt. Governor was informed that potential knowledge partners in the Technology area have

been identified. Discussions are being held with IIIT, Delhi, IGDTU, IIT Delhi, Data Security Council of India (DSCI) and C-DAC. It was also informed that necessary steps are being taken for setting up of Centre for Technology in Policing with IIIT Delhi and IIT Delhi.

Delhi Police also informed about the organizational structure, reporting systems and support staff required for the newly appointed Chief Technical Advisor in Delhi Police.

Delhi Police informed that as per the directions given in the earlier meeting by Hon’ble Lt. Governor a vehicle for development of Mobile Cyber Forensic Lab has been allotted to Economic Offences Wing of Delhi Police.

In the earlier meeting of Delhi Police, Hon’ble Lt. Governor had stressed on grooming of human resource to tackle the crimes of the future by three pronged incentive based proposals such as re-skilling, induction of specially skill manpower and induction of fresh personnel with aptitude for technology. Delhi Police informed that proposals are being prepared in this regard.

Later on, Delhi Police made a detailed presentation on technology projects of Delhi Police for Prevention, Detection & Investigation of Crimes such as e-Saathi Project, Body Worn Cameras, AI Powered CCTV Project, Geo-Fencing Project, C-MAPS, ANPR Project, Facial Recognition and Advanced Forensics.

Regarding e-Saathi Project it was informed that the Citizens, Beat Constable, Police Station and Police Headquarter will be connected through

a cloud server which would help in searching and identifying missing children/stolen vehicles/criminals in Delhi. Body Worn Cameras will help the officers to identify objects and missing people. About Geo-Fencing Project it was informed that it would help in patrolling of motorcycles and finding their locations. Regarding ANPR(Automatic Number Plate Recognition)project Delhi Police informed that it is AI based intelligent support system which would help in tracking the stolen vehicles.

Delhi Police also informed about the Facial Recognition technology which will help in tracing the missing children, remote suspect verification, security suspect identification and locating and tracking of fugitive. Lastly, Lt. Governor was informed about the Advanced Forensics such as Malware Forensics, Cryptocurrency Analytics, Cloud Forensic and Advanced Mobile Forensics.

At the outset, Hon’ble Lt. Governor stressed that timelines for various projects of Delhi Police should be fixed.
