Hon’ble Lt. Governor Sh. Anil Baijal today held a meeting on development and rehabilitation of two Trunk Drains i.e TD-2 and TD-5 at Dwarka. Vice Chairman, DDA; Engineer Member, DDA; Commissioner Planning, DDA; Director (Landscape), Chief Engineer (Dwarka) were also present in the meeting.
A detailed presentation was also made by DDA regarding rejuvenation of drains at Dwarka. Hon’ble LG was informed that the project will help in improving the environment, cleaning drain and overall area development. It was also apprised that the length of TD-2 is 5.3 KM and TD-5 is 3.8 KM.
Lt. Governor was also apprised about the objectives of the project i.e. Sewage and Storm water management with aim to reuse treated waste water for Water Body Creation within Channels and for irrigating garden and landscaped area; Visual improvement – Area Development with Waterfront development & Creation of Green Public spaces for citizens (Parks, Sitting areas, Promenades, Pathways, Public Services etc.); Profile correction & Augmenting Discharge Capacity by cleaning, repairing damaged sections and lining the unlined sections.
Lt. Governor advised DDA to develop green corridors, cycle tracks, shaded walkways, water cascades to assist natural water treatment, children park, etc. with adequate street furniture, lights and civic amenities along with drains to make them buzzing public spaces. Their connect with the community should also be ensured to create interest of the neighbourhood. This will help in developing complete urban ecosystem by substantially improving local environment.
Lastly, Lt. Governor stated that rejuvenated drains connected with community can uplift the urban environs and add value to the vicinity.
