Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Delhi Sh. Anil Baijal chairs meeting to review preparedness to contain novel coronavirus (COVID – 19) in Delhi with Hon’ble Chief Minister, Sh. Arvind Kejriwal & Health Minister, Sh. Satyendar Jain and other senior officers.

Delhi govt to take steps to close school, college and cinema halls to prevent possible spread : LG

Lt. Governor directs to continue massive awareness & public sensitization campaigns for prevention of COVID-19.

Immediate steps to augment sample testing, quarantine & tertiary facilities: LG

All public office, public places & public transport to be cleaned and disinfected on daily basis : LG

Practice social distancing , avoid unnecessary travel, do not panic, prepare and prevent : LG

All the agencies must work in coordinated manner to contain the spread of coronavirus: LG

Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Delhi Sh. Anil Baijal today chaired a meeting at Raj Niwas to review the preparedness to contain novel coronavirus (COVID – 19) in Delhi. Hon’ble Chief Minister, Sh. Arvind Kejriwal, Minister for Health, Sh. Satyendar Jain, Chief Secretary, Delhi, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), GNCTD, Pr. Secretary (Revenue), GNCTD, Special Commissioner of Police (Operations), Chairperson, NDMC,  Commissioners of three MCDs, Secretary (Health), GNCTD and other senior officer of Directorate General of Health Services were also present in the meeting.

Secretary (Health & Family Welfare) made a detailed presentation regarding preparedness of Delhi to contain 2019 Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).

At the outset of meeting, Department of Health, GNCTD apprised Lt. Governor about the actions being taken to contain the novel coronavirus. Lt. Governor was also apprised about the present number of cases of COVID – 19 in Delhi, action being taken for their treatment and for isolating affected people through contact tracing. She further informed about awareness activities at State & District level, availability of quarantine facility, tertiary care and sample testing facilities at designated hospitals. Secretary (H&FW) informed about training & capacity building measures for the health officials. .

Hon’ble LG was further informed that 24X7 Control Rooms have been set up at state and district level where people may contact for any query related to COVID-19.  It was informed that intensive public awareness campaigns and sensitization drives are being continued. Special awareness drives are being conducted in vulnerable areas / places viz markets, JJ clusters, unauthorized colonies, ISBTs, Railway stations and metro Stations etc.

For prevention and control of coronavirus, Delhi government has already ordered to disinfect DTC, cluster buses, Delhi Metro on a regular basis as a precautionary measure. Hon’ble Lt. Governor directed that all public office, public places & public transport be cleaned and disinfected on daily basis. It was further agreed to take steps to close schools, college, cinema halls etc to minimise spread of disease.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor directed to continue and intensify massive awareness and public sensitization campaigns in national and vernacular Media (specially in Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi). He further urged that the people should be informed about the symptoms, mode of transmission, how to reduce risk of cornavirus infection, etc. 

Hon’ble Lt. Governor further directed Municipal Bodies, DUSIB, DC’s of 11 districts to set up quarantine facilities.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor further directed Health Department to ensure immediate steps to augment facilitation of sample testing, quarantine & tertiary care at designated hospitals. He directed all concerned to have extensive training and capacity building for staff to fight against the threat of deadly novel coronavirus.  Hon’ble Lt. Governor directed all concerned agencies to work in coordinated manner to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Lastly, he advised all to take all possible preventive measures. He urged people to avoid unnecessary travel to crowded places.
