Hon’ble LG reviews the status of filling of vacancies in Delhi Fire Service & Forensic Science Laboratory as part of regular monitoring.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Delhi, Sh. Anil Baijal today chaired a meeting to review the status of filling of vacancies in Delhi Fire Service and Forensic Science Laboratory, Delhi. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, Delhi, Addl. Chief Secretary (Home), Secretary (Services), Director (FSL) and  Director (DFS).  A detailed presentation was made by Director, Delhi Fire Service and Director, FSL regarding vacancy position in these respective departments and steps being taken to fill them up.

Director, Fire Services informed that the process of hiring 500 Firemen through GeM has been finalized and 25 Radio Telephone Operators have already been employed through GeM to cater to the emergent situation till the regular vacancies are filled.  As a result of regular monitoring, 484 new Firemen have already joined the force in the last 06 months.  Wherever officials of adequate seniority as per RR’s are not available for promotional vacancies, steps are being taken to fill them up on deputation basis as per rules.  Director, FSL informed that they are in the process of setting up of more specialized branches like Mobile Tracking, CCTVs, Chemical and Biological analysis to cater to the cases related to these fields.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor directed that DPC’s should be held regularly and the process of filling regular vacancies be expedited with agencies concerned like UPSC and DSSSB as these services are of emergency nature and suitable follow-ups be made with agencies concerned to expedite the same.

 Hon’ble LG advised that liaison be maintained with agencies like National Disaster Management Authority, Army Signal Core etc. to cater the emergent needs.  Hon’ble LG directed that the report of the Committee regarding use of modern technologies in Fire Department for ensuring access in narrow bylanes by use of Robots, Hoses of fire resistant materials etc. be submitted expeditiously.

Hon’ble LG also emphasized upon fresh thinking and tasking the institutes for consultancy to meet the dynamic demand of the hour in the FSL.
