Lt. Governor Delhi holds review meeting with senior Police Officers & others regarding the law and order situation in East/North East Delhi.

LG directed Delhi Police to ensure continued adequate deployment of force, patrolling and area domination exercise, swift and effective response to any situation, prompt registration of FIRs and its expeditious investigation, prevention of any untoward incident, strict enforcement of directions under section 144, visible police presence with outreach and confidence building measures.

LG instructed for setting up of sufficient nos. of Help Desks/Help Lines and its wider publicity to ensure timely help to the victims and their family.

Ensure deployment of sufficient number of qualified professionals/doctors to cater to the needs of riot victims : LG

MCD’s to ensure proper sanitation, removal of burnt cars, malba, etc. in the affected areas : LG

Prompt action should be taken to ensure essential supplies like food, milk, grocery items etc. in the affected areas. Concerned agencies to extend all possible help to the injured and families of deceased: LG

Special CP (Vigilance) Ms. Sundari Nanda assisted by officers of appropriate seniority from East Delhi Municipal Corporation, Health Department & District Administration to meet the injured/ families of deceased personally and ensure that all steps are taken to provide all possible assistance to them: LG.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Delhi Sh. Anil Baijal held a review meeting regarding the law and order situation in East/NE Delhi. The meeting was attended by Addl. Chief Secretary (Home), GNCTD, Special Commissioners of Police (Law & Order), Sh. S.N. Shrivastava and Sh. Satish Golcha, Pr. Secretary (Health), GNCTD, Commissioner, EDMC, CEO, DUSIB and Director, Delhi Fire Service.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor was informed that adequate staff including outside force has been deployed in the area on round the clock basis. A detailed arrangement has been issued in this regard under the close supervision of Spl. CP/L&O. A total of 03  Spl. CsP, 06 Jt. CsP, 01 Addl. CP, 22 DCsP, 20 ACsP, 60 Inspectors, 1200 staff and 200 women staff along with 60 COYs of CAPF and reserve forces have been deployed at the affected areas in shifts. Apart from above, all the staff of the police stations of North East District have been deployed round the clock to pacify and cool off the situation.

It was further informed that around 105 persons have been arrested/ detained in North-East district in connection with riots. As a confidence building measures amongst all strata of the society, Aman committees already constituted in the area have been re-activated and about 14 meetings have been organized in North East District with the stake holders of Aman Committee.

After detailed deliberations, Hon’ble LG directed the Delhi Police to ensure continued adequate deployment of force, patrolling and area domination exercise, swift and effective response to any situation, prompt registration of FIRs and its expeditious investigation, prevention of any untoward incident, strict enforcement of directions under section 144, visible police presence with outreach and confidence building measures.

Hon’ble LG further directed to ensure preventive measures and strict enforcement, continued vigil on borders and close monitoring of sensitive places like religious structures, schools, petrol pumps, LPG Godowns etc. He also instructed to ensure safe passage for fire tenders and ambulances, and general public, setting up of sufficient numbers of Help Desks/Help Lines and its wider publicity to ensure timely help to the victims and their families, setting up of sufficient number of shelter homes with basic amenities including bedding, blanket, medicines, food, sanitation and clean drinking water, ensuring timely medico-legal certificates and post mortem reports etc. to the victims and their families.

He instructed that availability of adequate night shelters and designated Night Magistrates be ensured to address the urgent needs of victims/deceased. Principal Secretary law was asked to coordinate with District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) to provide immediate legal aid to the victims. It was further directed to ensure presence of sufficient number of qualified professionals/doctors to cater to the needs of riot victims suffering post- traumatic stress disorder and any other needs in active coordination with IHBAS. Deployment and availability of doctors and para- medical personnels/ medicines etc. be ensured for proper care of victims.

Hon’ble LG further instructed other authorities concerned for quick disposal of burnt cars as per law, lifting of malba, clearing of animal carcasses and repair of roads, signages and government of assets/religious structures in coordination with Delhi Police. He further advised for ensuring smooth coordination and seamless deployment of doctors and para-medical staffs in the nearby hospitals.

It was directed that prompt action should be taken to ensure availability of essential supplies like food, milk, grocery items etc. in the affected areas. All the related help line numbers like 100, 112, 011-22829334, 011-22829335 (Delhi Police) and 101,102 (Delhi Fire Services),etc. be widely and repeatedly published in vernacular medias especially in Hindi and Urdu. He also directed Revenue Department to take confidence building measures and make a quick survey of the quantum of loss to individual, families, business establishments, shops and institutions and ensure speedy compensation.

Lastly, Lt. Governor directed concerned agencies to extend all possible help to the injured and families of deceased in the recent incidents of violence in East/North East Delhi.

Hon’ble Lt.
