Lt. Governor, Delhi Sh. Anil Baijal today reviewed the “Implementation Status & Plans for use of Technology by Delhi Police”. The meeting was attended by Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Spl. CPs and Jt. CPs of Delhi Police;  Commissioner (Transport),GNCTD.

Delhi Police made a detailed presentation on various technology based projects of Delhi Police and informed about implemented projects and unit wise technology based project & progress.

Operations & Communication Unit

It was informed that Mobile Control Room (MCR) project has been commissioned which will act as standby Command & Control at the place of function/ incident.

Hon’ble LG was further informed that various projects of operations & communication unit such as replacement of Digital Trunked Radio System (DTRS) with Communication system based on APCO-II Technology,  Emergency Response Support System-112 (ERSS-112), Up-gradation of Cyber Highway Cyber Highway – A private network of Delhi Police, Expansion of Cyber Highway (24 Police Stations) are under process are being monitored and will be commissioned soon.

Traffic Unit

It was also informed that the Laser Speed Guns project has been commissioned and it will check over speeding, reduce traffic accidents and improve Road users’ safety. The project of E-challan System on Turnkey basis through NIC has been started which will ensure effective and transparent prosecution, utilizing data from VAHAN & SARATHI database. Maruti Suzuki CSR Project has also been commissioned which has automated the process of red light violation detection system at 10 locations between Mayapuri and Sarai Kale Khan.  It was further informed that 80 Body Worn cameras have been inducted in Traffic Police. Hon’ble LG directed that the same be extended to filed units.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor was further informed that projects namely Gantry/Cantilever Mounted  Automatic Speed Violation Detection System (SVDS), Red Light and Speed Violation Detection system (RLVD), 400 Traffic Booths, Procurement of Hydraulic Cranes, Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), Two Disaster Management Vehicles, Fabrication of Exhibition Vans, Modification of Motorcycles of Traffic Unit, Award of contract for maintenance of Traffic Signals are being reviewed closely as per deadlines.

Cyber Prevention Awareness & Detection (CyPAD)

It was also informed that the New Building for Cyber Crime Unit (Cy PAD) at Dwarka has been commissioned. It was further informed that the Network Forensics Tool project has already been commissioned, which will strengthen the capabilities of Cyber Crime Unit, Special Cell.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor was further informed that projects like Malware Forensic Lab, Advanced Mobile Forensic Lab, Damaged Hard Disk Forensic Lab, Cloud Forensic Tool, Cyber Range for Training, Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) will commence shortly.

PTC & PCR Unit

Training e-Learning ‘NIPUN’ project has been commissioned. It will standardize modular training. More and more modules are being updated on the portal. Training on Driving Simulator project has been started and is being used for hands-on Training of PCR Drivers to enhance driving skills.

IT Unit, PHQ is soon going to launch One Touch App for seamless delivery of about 45 Citizen Centric Services through this App which will be first such kind of App in India.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor was further informed that the various projects of Crime Branch like Crime Scene Reconstruction using Laser Technology, Website Hindi Version of Delhi Police, New Equipment for Automatic Finger Print Identification System (AFPIS), Procurement of 09 equipment/ tools for Cyber Cell, Crime Branch, e-Beat Book (e-Sathi), etc. will be completed shortly. Apart from this projects of Special Cell units and EOW units like Centralised Monitoring System (CMS) and Cyber Forensic Equipment for EOW are also under progress.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor stated that Use of Technology in Policing will improve service and efficiency in Delhi Police and will also instill a sense of security among the citizens. Further, in-house capacity building in the form of Technology Unit under Chief Technology officer be planned for review, maintenance and progress of all projects.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor also stressed upon ensuring that the expected dates of commissioning are met without fail for the above mentioned projects.
