Lt. Governor, Sh. Anil Baijal inspects Anand Vihar ISBT area today; reviews issues related to traffic, parking, encroachment and sanitation.
Lt. Governor directs agencies to take both short and long term measures with timelines.

Sh. Anil Baijal, Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Delhi today inspected Anand Vihar ISBT area and reviewed issues related to traffic, parking, encroachment and sanitation.

Lt. Governor was accompanied by Managing Director, DMRC; Pr. Secretary (PWD), GNCTD; Commissioner (Transport), GNCTD; Commissioner, EDMC; Secretary (Environment & Forest), GNCTD; Chief Engineer, PWD; representatives from Railway and other departments.

The visit of the Hon’ble Lt. Governor started with the inspection of Anand Vihar CAAQMS (Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations) where officers of DPCC explained the working of system and trend of different pollutants across different times of the day.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor was apprised about various problems of the area where immediate interventions are required such as encroachments on footpath, requirement of foot over bridge (FOB) from UP side to Railway terminal, plantations near the drain bank, proper designing of gradient from service road to main road, maintenance of road footpath, proper walkway inside ISBT etc.

Secretary (Irrigation and Flood Control), GNCTD informed that the clearance for construction near entry point has been given to ease traffic movement. It was further informed that extensive plantation drive will be initiated in the monsoon period on the banks of the drain and in Patparganj Industrial Area.

The issue of skywalk connecting Anand Vihar Metro station to Patparganj Industrial Area was also raised during the visit. Hon’ble Lt. Governor directed DMRC officers to survey the area and execute a proposal, if found feasible or suggest alternative solutions for smoother movement of pedestrians.

Hon’ble Lt. Governor suggested that vehicles that regularly enter the ISBT should utilize RFID technology as it would reduce stoppage time at fee counters on entry and exit points. Hon’ble Lt. Governor also advised PWD to look into w the demands related to reengineering of roads and flyovers for better traffic movement at the earliest.

Finally, Lt. Governor directed DIMTS and EDMC to remove all unauthorized encroachments near the entry point of Anand Vihar ISBT besides on footpaths to facilitate easy movement of pedestrians.
