Lt. Governor, Delhi Sh. Anil Baijal has written to the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister in reference to his letter where he has raised the issue that while putting up the draft Cabinet Note related to ‘Schools of Excellence’, the Directorate of Education has removed all the references related to ‘Services’.
Hon’ble Lt. Governor has stated that this proposal for opening of ‘ Schools of Excellence’ in Delhi has never been received in his Secretariat nor the issue was ever raised by the Hon’ble Chief Minister in any of their weekly meetings. Hon’ble Lt. Governor also informed that he has been given to understand that the matter has been pending in the office of Hon’ble Deputy CM office since the first week of September.
Hon’ble Lt. Governor further stated that he continues to support any proposal which improves the quality of education in government schools in Delhi, provided it is as per rules/laws. Hon’ble LG emphasized that a solution could have been found in this case also as per the scheme of governance of NCT of Delhi, if he was apprised of this issue in time. He further stressed that they could have had a joint meeting with all the stakeholders concerned to iron out any creases in the smooth implementation of this proposal.
Finally, Hon’ble Lt. Governor requested to the Hon’ble Dy. CM that the proposal be sent to him expeditiously as per rules so that there is no further loss of time since the interest of the students of Delhi is their shared concern.
