I congratulate all of you on this momentous occasion of the 6th Convocation of Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women. It is indeed a matter of privilege for us to have amidst us the former Vice-President of India, Hon’ble Shri Venkaiah Naidu Gaaru. I am sure that his words of wisdom in the Convocation Address will enlighten the path ahead of all of us, especially so, the graduating students.
02. At the outset, I would like to underline that on this Red Letter Day, when young lady scholars - budding Engineers and Scientists, pass out from the portals of your alma mater, there is a whole world ahead of you to conquer. You are going to be important drivers of the growth engine of the nation, as indeed pillars of strength for your families and the society at large.
Dear friends,
03. I would like to draw your attention towards our nation’s future vision of Rainbow of India, as envisaged by our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narender Modi ji. To achieve the goal of comprehensive development of our nation and its citizens’, seven major focal areas are envisioned under the Rainbow of India concept.
04. India's Culture (संस्कृति), Agriculture (कृषि), Women (नारी शक्ति), Natural Resources (प्राकृतिक संशाधन), Youth Power (युवा शक्ति), Democracy (जनतंत्र), and Knowledge (ज्ञान) are these seven rainbow subjects.
05. Today, standing here in this renowned Technical University for Women, I am sure that the graduating नारी युवा शक्ति is all set to harness the ज्ञान, resources and the power of inclusion that our democracy provides, in the task of nation building.
06. I am impressed by the University Annual Report read by the Vice-Chancellor and it is remarkable that the University has received numerous prestigious Awards and Accolades recently. Let me applaud the entire IGDTUW fraternity for such recognitions which truly resonates the spirit of "सब का साथ, सब का विकास".
07. IGDTUW is appropriately providing an environment for excellence in professional education and ensuring active participation of young women in the various fields of knowledge fulfilling the aim of ‘विकसित भारत’.
08. Besides this, IGDTUW is also contributing to attain nation’s vision of Brand India which focuses on 5 T’s namely Talent, Trade, Tradition, Tourism and Technology. During my last visit for the celebration of आज़ादी का अमृत महोत्सव, I was delighted to witness the young women Talent of IGDTUW, who made a mark in the field of Technical & Professional education and also succeeded in securing notable positions in renowned National & International Organizations.
09. Today, we are gathered here to celebrate students’ remarkable achievements. Convocations are proud moments in a student’s life since it honours their accomplishments before they confront the rigours of life. I believe it is a memorable moment for today’s graduates who have accomplished a milestone by achieving a degree from an institution of repute, which has been providing quality education since 2013. It is remarkable to continue the trend of developing young female technocrats and managers with ethical and moral values, while enhancing their leadership qualities, research culture, and innovative skills.
10. I have been told that IGDTUW has established Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence with the support of Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India, Centre of Excellence in Advanced Mechatronics System, Centre of Excellence in Innovation and Centre of Excellence for Science of Happiness, Centre of Excellence in Innovation (Anveshan Foundation-Incubation Centre) and Centre for Sustainable Development for the academic and comprehensive development of students. By providing young women with higher learning and overall growth, IGDTUW is performing one of the most important tasks for empowerment of women and development of society. One cannot think of a well developed society, until its women are educated.
11. In the last couple of years, IGDTUW has also focussed on building research facilities augmented by funding from various National and International funding agencies. It is always a remarkable initiative and IGDTUW is working towards strengthening its links with other institutions of higher learning through MoUs. I am hopeful that the University will now translate these MoUs into actionable agendas and devise sustainable systems and state-of-the-art infrastructure to enable the Indian women to don the role of future Leaders, Managers, Researchers and Productive Team Players in the field of Science & Technology.
12. By providing guidance and mentoring to budding entrepreneurs, boosting their confidence and helping them to take their business ideas to the market, in minimum possible time frame, IGDTUW is indeed working towards the National initiative of “Make in India”. The students should acknowledge the efforts and maintain the spirit to work on Indian soil.
13. It is not possible for any University to enjoy academic vibrancy without moral values and social commitment. The process of creating such conditions is suitably seen here, where every member of the university community is motivated to prioritize collective interests and progressively work towards creating efficient systems.
Dear friends,
14. Graduation ceremony is a very important day in the life of a student. You shall be bestowed upon with lots of advice and good wishes on this joyous occasion. I have a couple of thoughts to share with you – the first advice that I would like to give to all of you young students is, that spend your time working on whatever you are passionate about in life. If your degree was focused upon one particular area, don’t let that stop you from exploring in another direction. The world is full of opportunities waiting for you. You just have to grab one-that interests you. Every job, every profession, has its own challenges, risks and rewards. You must take the opportunities with complete zeal.
15. Secondly dear graduates, you have an exciting life ahead of you. You can achieve and contribute a lot by working hard, leading your life with positivity, innovating, keeping a focus on generating value and higher purposes. In your exciting journey, do not forget to give back to society, and to your alma mater and always focus on the moral and ethical values taught to you by your Alma-mater.
16. To conclude, I feel delighted to state that the IGDTUW is the fastest growing university in India and Asia and girls of this institution are making its impact felt, all over. Once again, I would like to congratulate the outstanding achievers and wish you all the very best in your career and lives ahead.
God bless you all!
Jai Hind
