• Sale of DDA’s ‘unsold’ LIG and EWS Flats at Narela picks up following LG’s interventions.
• In just 15 days, 870 Flats (EWS 619 & LIG 251) out of total 1281 advertised, have been sold.
• Relaxation of eligibility criteria, ‘first-come-first-serve’ mode and initiatives for better connectivity, security and health services start yielding results
Following the Lt. Governor, Shri V.K. Saxena’s interventions that included amending the eligibility criteria for buying houses and concerted efforts towards developing Transport Connectivity, Security and Health Services in Narela, DDA’s efforts in disposing its Housing Inventory in Narela has received a sure impetus. DDA’s latest advertisement on 05.09.2022, for sale of LIG and EWS Flats at Narela on a ‘first-come-first-serve’ basis has received very good response from the people. Within 15 days, 1281 Flats (EWS 772 & LIG 509) put up for sale have received 1940 registrations and 870 Flats (EWS 619 & LIG 251) have already been sold. The sale of these 1281 Flats is expected to fetch Rs. 196.90 Cr.
In the meeting of the Delhi Development Authority, chaired by LG on 03rd August, 2022, it was decided to do away with requirement of having annual individual income of less than Rs. 3 lakhs for applicants/allottees of EWS categories and less than Rs. 10 lakhs as family income. Instead the Authority decided to allot such Flats only on the basis of annual family income below Rs. 10 lakhs per annum as certificated by the Competent Officer/Authority. This led to many more applicants becoming eligible for applying for such houses in LIG & EWS categories.
Similarly, the decision to shift from lottery mode for allotment of houses to ‘first-come-first-serve’ basis, which provides the opportunity to the buyer to first see the property that he is buying and then decide, rather than being forced to take the one allotted through a lottery, has also led to an enthusiastic response from the people. The disposal of these Flats through lottery was proving to be a major bottleneck in their sale.
In addition to this, lack of connectivity, absence of Health Facilities and Security concerns were proving to be major impediments in thousands of houses built by DDA in the Narela Sub-City getting picked up by buyers. However, all these issues and more have been addressed following LG’s intervention and direction to concerned departments and officials.
On the instructions of LG, DTC has started operating 02 buses each in 02 shifts on route no. 120C and 120E from Narela Pocket-G and Narela Sector-A1 to Central Secretariat via major localities in the City, land has been allotted to Delhi Police for construction of 11 Police Stations in various Sectors in Narela. A ready to occupy Flat has also been allotted in Sector – G7/G8 of Narela to the Delhi Police for setting up of a Police Chowki and the same will start functioning by the end of this month. Similarly, Flats have also been allotted for setting up of Dispensaries by the MCD at the earliest and surveys for the same have already been conducted.
The exercise, apart from providing impetus to the sale of DDA Flats in Narela, is also expected to kick start the much desired development of North-West Delhi.
