The Lt. Governor of Delhi, Sh. Vinai Kumar Saxena, who described himself as the Local Guardian – LG of the people of Delhi, today took to the streets setting the priorities and perspective for the way ahead. The day he assumed the office as Lt. Governor, Sh. Saxena undertook a field visit to the area from Cannought Place to the Airport and emphasised on the need for coordination amongst different Government Agencies and urban local bodies for upgradation of city infrastructure and for the beautification of the city .
Sh. Saxena accompanied by Chief Secretary, Delhi, Chairman, NDMC, Vice Chairman, DDA, Commissioner MCD and senior officials of other concerned departments/agencies, inspected areas like S.P. Marg, Dhaula Kuan, Mahipalpur, Mehram Nagar and Mandi House round about amongst others.
The Lt. Governor stressed upon the need to build Delhi as a global city instructed with effective cooperation of the government and civil society . He directed the concerned officials to take necessary action towards ensuring symmetry in city infrastructure including roads, footpaths , street lights , signages . He emphasised on ensuring all round cleanliness, timely desilting of drains ,greening of roadsides and maintenance of the central verges. He laid special emphasis on Horticultural overhaul of the area by planting suitable all weather flowering plants and aesthetical landscaping that include step garden and water fountains, etc. Laying stress on the use of recycled drain water for the purpose of greening dry stretches, the Lt. Governor also emphasized on complete collection and disposal of garbage to ensure sanitation and cleanliness.
With regards to above mentioned, the Lt. Governor instructed officials to come up with a concrete and comprehensive plan of action with fixed timelines through inter-departmental/agency coordination.
