Lt. Governor, Delhi Sh. Anil Baijal chairs Law & Order meeting to review general crime situation in Delhi & preparedness of Delhi Police regarding Delhi Assembly Elections - 2020.

Lt. Governor, Delhi Sh. Anil Baijal chaired Law & Order meeting today and reviewed general crime situation in Delhi and preparedness of Delhi Police for Delhi Legislative Assembly Elections - 2020. The meeting was attended by Pr. Secretary (Home), GNCTD; Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Spl. Commissioners of Police, Joint Commissioners of Police; Spl. Commissioner (Transport), GNCTD; Deputy Commissioner (Excise), GNCTD.
Spl. CP (Crime) made a detailed presentation in this regard covering different aspects of Law & Order situation. It was submitted that there has been a decline of 8.74% in the heinous crimes committed in Delhi till 22nd December, 2019 as compared to the last year. The percentage of solved cases w.r.t. heinous crimes in corresponding period has also improved to 93.89% from 90.12% in the preceding year.
Hon’ble LG directed Delhi Police to statistically analyze the socio-economic causes of crime and accordingly devise strategy for effective prevention to make the city safer.
Delhi Police further informed Hon’ble LG about the preparedness for Crowd Control, Riot Control etc. Hon’ble LG was also apprised of non-lethal measures of crowd control and the action plan to upgrade it further.
Hon’ble Lt. Governor stressed upon studying the impact of officer-oriented handling of law & order arrangements relating to students and youth and desired that it may be further extended on the basis of its efficacy.
Delhi Assembly Election – 2020
Spl. Commissioner of Police (Intelligence/Nodal Officer, Election) made a detailed presentation regarding preparedness for Delhi Assembly Election – 2020. The presentation covered preparedness of Delhi Police regarding pre Modal Code of Conduct, pre nomination, nomination & campaigning, Election Day and victory processions.
It was informed that Delhi Police has already requisitioned adequate force for smooth conduct of election process especially as during this election EVMs/VVPATs alongwith polling parties have to be stationed at polling stations/polling booths one day in advance.
Hon’ble LG was further apprised about mapping of vulnerable polling stations/booths jointly done by Deputy Commissioner of Police & District Election Officer. Arrangements for movement/transportation of CAPF/Home Guards, etc. shall be made in active consultation with District Election Officer, Transport Department & other concerned agencies.
Hon’ble LG directed that all steps be taken well in advance to ensure free and fair election in active consultation with all the stakeholders including neighbouring states/districts.
