Lt. Governor chairs meeting to review the progress made by Cyber Prevention Awareness & Detection Centre (CyPAD) of Delhi Police.

Combating & containing cyber crimes by equipping police is the need of hour: LG

Sensitize/educate public about various kinds of cyber crimes through vernacular as well as digital media : LG

Synergy between Forensic Scientific Laboratory (FSL) and CyPAD be explored and ensured : LG

           Hon’ble Lt. Governor Delhi, Sh. Anil Baijal today chaired a meeting to review the progress made by Cyber Prevention Awareness & Detection Centre (CyPAD) of Delhi Police at Raj Niwas. The meeting was attended by Addl. Chief Secretary (Home), GNCTD; Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), Delhi Police; Chief Technological Officer, Delhi Police and Addl. Commissioner of Police (Cyber & Tech. Cell), Delhi Police.

           A detailed presentation was made by Addl. Commissioner of Police (Cyber & Tech. Cell) regarding the structure, mandate, existing facilities, education & awareness efforts and notable achievements of CyPAD.

          Hon’ble LG was apprised about the existing forensic facilities such as Memory Forensics Lab, Network Forensics Lab, Advanced Mobile Forensics Lab, Malware Forensics Lab, Cloud-Forensics Tool & Cryptocurrency Forensics Tool. It was further informed that CyPAD identifies and resolves security issues in digital ecosystem and participates in policy formulation regarding cyber space.

          Apart from this, Hon’ble LG was briefed about various kinds of cases being dealt by CyPAD and the actions taken both at the level of investigation as well as educational efforts. Advanced cyber investigation training and multi-jurisdictional complex cyber crime cases are being handled by CyPAD.  

         Hon’ble LG observed that combating and containing cyber crimes by equipping police is the need of hour. He further directed to prepare a database and analyze in detail various types of cyber crimes so that the cases may be categorized and effective action may be undertaken to prevent the cyber crimes. He further asked to explore synergy in terms of resources and expertise between Forensic Scientific Laboratory (FSL) and CyPAD for optimum utilization of resources.

         Hon’ble LG further advised to sensitize/educate public about various kinds of cyber crimes through vernacular as well as digital media. It was also desired that sharing of data with other agencies be done so that the optimum benefits reaped.
