I am happy to know that the Institute of Town Planners, India is organizing the 71st National Town and Country Planners Conference on the theme ‘Challenges for Urban and Regional Planning towards Sustainable Development’ during 24-26 February, 2023 at Bhubaneswar.
During the past 9 years, the country has witnessed several initiatives on part of the Government of India, that are arrived at keeping pace with rapid urbanization, and have the potential of transforming our urban landscape into inclusive and vibrant engines of growth. Flagship schemes like Smart Cities Mission (SCM), Atal Mission of Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), Housing for All (HFA), Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), National Heritage and Cities and Augmentation Yojana (NHCAY), etc. need to be taken to their logical conclusion in a sustainable and planned manner.
I hope that the Conference will deliberate on all relevant issues in this regard and come up with ideas and long term solutions for stakeholders to benefit from.
I wish the event all success.
