Hon’ble Lt. Governor chairs meeting of Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) with Hon’ble Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Minister (Health), Minister (Revenue), Chief Secretary, GoC(HQ), Delhi Area, ACS (Home), CP & other senior officers.  

Reviews present health status in respect of COVID-19 in Delhi, status of Hospital Bed Augmentation, ambulances, health care facilities, etc. 

Hon’ble Lt. Governor & Hon’ble Chief Minister launched a mobile application “Delhi Corona” to help track the availability of hospital beds and ventilators in Delhi for Covid-19 patients.

The App-Dashboard will provide updated information about all COVID centers, guidelines, important helplines, etc. : LG

Hon’ble Lt. Governor chaired the meeting of Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) to review  the present health status in respect of COVID-19 in Delhi, status of Hospital Bed Augmentation, ambulances, health care facilities, etc  with Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dy. Chief Minister, Minister (Health), GNCTD, Minister (Revenue) GNCTD, Chief Secretary, Addl. Chief Secretary (Home), General Officer Commanding (HQ), Delhi Area, Commissioner of Police, Divisional Commissioner, Pr. Secretary (Health), Secretary (Health), CEO, Disaster Management, Delhi and other senior officers. 

Hon’ble Lt. Governor and Hon’ble Chief Minister jointly launched the “Delhi Corona” App-Dashboard to help residents track the availability of hospital beds and ventilators for Covid-19 patients. This App also contains details of all COVID Centres, guidelines and important helplines to ensure well being of residents and provides a single avenue to cater to all the needs and issues of the Delhites during these tough times.

 Pr. Secretary (Health) made a detailed presentation where it was informed that upto 01st June, 2020 there are total 20834 confirmed cases in Delhi out of which 8746 patients have recovered/discharged/migrated.  It was further informed that Case Fatality Rate in Delhi is 2.5% as compared to the national average of 2.83%, recovery rate is 46%, doubling rate 12.8 days and test per million is 11449 as compared to the national average of 2838 tests per million.  

It was further apprised that at present there are 6476 hospital beds, 432+ ICU beds, 342+ Ventilators beds and 3233+ Oxygenated supported beds in dedicated COVID hospitals. Pr. Secretary (Health) informed that 3 more hospitals have been earmarked with additional 1900 beds for COVID (namely GTB Hospital, deep Chand Badhu Hospital and SRHH Narela). The new hospital in Burari with 450 beds is expected to be operational by 2nd week of June. 

For augmentation of hospital beds in private sector, Private hospitals with more than 50 beds have been allowed to increase bed capacity by 25% where 20% bed capacity is earmarked for COVID in these private hospitals. He further informed that 1170 beds are in the process of getting ready by linking hospitals to nearby hotels. 

    Lt. Governor was further apprised that various steps are being taken to improve the efficiency of CATS ambulance which includes fleet augmentation, redeployment of ambulances as per call frequency and increasing the number of phone lines by about 33% and setting up of alternate call center with scalable capacity of at least 100 call lines.
 
    It was also informed that approximately 3 lakh stranded migrants have been sent to 16 states by 237 trains. Also, 638 buses have transported 12804 passengers to different states in the past few weeks. 

Hon’ble Lt. Governor once again reiterated that Health Department should continuously and closely review the capacity building of medical infrastructure and take all necessary steps to scale up the availability of oxygenated beds, ICU beds and ventilators in Delhi. 

It was also apprised that a lot of instances of delay have been notices in providing tests reports by labs. In this regard, it was directed that due action as per law should be taken against labs responsible for the delay. 

During the meeting,  Hon’ble Lt. Governor stated that all should comply with guidelines of Govt. of India on how to prevent the infection from further spreading. Lt. Governor further advised all concerned authorities to communicate extensively with public about the COVID-19 for awareness and sensitisation.
