I am pleased to learn that Hardayal Municipal Heritage Public Library (HMPL) is publishing the 2nd edition of its souvenir “Smiriti Sankalan”.
The HMPL is one of the oldest public libraries in the country. It has a wide curated collection of books in Hindi, English, Urdu, Arabic, Persian and Sanskrit languages, some of which are rare and an integral part of our cultural and historical heritage. By providing access to books and other rich sources of information and knowledge to the students and community at large, the library is playing an important role in inculcating reading habit, enhancing learning, promoting research and in this way it is significantly contributing towards the development of society and nation.
It is heartening to note that the Management Committee of this prestigious library has initiated a project to preserve the enormous collection of the rare books through digitization which will further enhance the access of books to the people.
On this occasion, I congratulate all the members, officials and employees of Hardayal Municipal Heritage Public Library and wish them the very best for their future endeavours.
