The Delhi State Centre of the Institution of Engineers (India) under the aegis of Safety and Quality Forum-IEI is organizing the “Safety Convention - 2020”
Date: Friday, March 5, 2021
I am pleased to learn that the Delhi State Centre of the Institution of Engineers (India) under the aegis of Safety and Quality Forum-IEI is organizing the “Safety Convention - 2020” on the theme “Safety in Mobility” during March 17-18, 2021 at New Delhi.
In recent years India has witnessed an unprecedented rise in motorized transport. With limited road space and increasing population this has led to a situation where safety in mobility has become an issue of grave concern. Safety on roads can be achieved only with concerted efforts of all stakeholders towards enhancing vehicle safety measures, reducing congestion and adopting standard transport planning practices including traffic engineering solutions, strict enforcement of Motor vehicle Rules, road safety audits etc.
Improved vehicle safety standards in terms of manufacturers incorporating inbuilt safety features in automobiles and an enabling regulatory framework that mandates such installation in the vehicles also needs to be simultaneously ensured. Citizen’s education and involvement in achieving the goal of safe mobility merits emphasis in equal measure.
I am certain that the Convention will offer a useful platform to all the stakeholders to discuss and deliberate on important issues related to ‘safety in mobility’ and will emerge with meaningful solutions and effective strategies towards enhancing safe operating practices through collaborative efforts of the State and the civil society.
I convey my best wishes for the success of the Convention’.
